Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: your email address, a securely hashed password (for email/password sign-up), or your name, profile picture, and Google account identifier (if you sign up with Google).
• Profile information: first name, last name, occupation, and bio, if you choose to add them in your account settings.
• Usage content: the questions you choose or write, the answers you give to follow-up prompts, any optional comments you add, and the results generated for you. This can include answers about relationships, mental wellness, religion, family, health, finances, and similar personal topics, depending on what you choose to explore.
• Transaction information: your coin balance (derived from a ledger of purchases and usage) and payment references from our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card or bank details, those are handled directly by our payment processor.
• Technical information: log data, device and browser information, and timestamps of account activity, collected automatically to keep the service secure and reliable.

Some features (including all "Custom" questions and any AI-powered insight) send your question and your answers to a third-party AI provider to generate a personalized result. We only send what is needed to produce that result, and this happens on our servers, never directly from your device to the AI provider.

We do not use your questions or answers to train our own models, and we choose AI providers who commit not to use API content to train their models by default. If that ever changes for a given provider, we will update this policy.

• To create and maintain your account and let you sign in securely.
• To generate the results, insights, and follow-up questions you request.
• To process coin purchases and maintain an accurate, auditable coin ledger.
• To send account-related email, such as email verification, session reminders (if enabled), and purchase confirmations.
• To send promotional or marketing email, but only if you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time from Notification settings.
• To maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the service.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run figurethisout, under confidentiality and data protection obligations, including:

• Our database and hosting providers, to store and serve your data.
• Our payment processor (currently Paystack, with Stripe planned for later markets), to process coin purchases.
• Our email delivery provider, to send verification and account email.
• Our AI provider(s), to generate the results and insights you request, as described in Section 2.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of De Illustris, our users, or the public.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, it is deactivated immediately, you are logged out, and your email address is freed up so it can be used again. We retain the underlying data for a limited period afterward where necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance, then remove it.

You can request a full export of your data or ask us to erase it sooner by contacting us using the details in Section 9.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can already do much of this yourself from your account settings, including exporting your data and deleting your account. For anything else, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

figurethisout is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

De Illustris Professional LTD is based in Nigeria, and figurethisout is available to users worldwide. Depending on where our service providers operate, your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Wherever it is processed, we require it to be handled consistently with this Privacy Policy.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, such as by email or an in-app notice.
